The epic ascent saw New Range Rover Sport – luxury performance SUV –resist the surging torrent of water flowing down the ramp of the Karahnjukar Dam – the biggest of its kind in the world – at a rate of 750 tonnes per minute. A loss of traction risked plunging down the perilous 90m drop at the base of the spillway to the valley floor below. Official James Bond stunt driver Jessica Hawkins was behind the wheel as the New Range Rover Sport demonstrated its grip, traction, performance and composure, completing the latest in a series of challenges for Land Rover’s luxury performance SUV. The spillway climb was the final obstacle on the drive from the valley floor to the summit of the dam, taking in a flooded riverbed, long steep tunnels and the 40-degree rocky dam wall itself. The 294m stretch of spillway had water furiously cascading down its 90-metre drop, to provide the ultimate test of traction and driver confidence. New Range Rover Sport is based on Land Rover’s advanced, flexible Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA-Flex), which provides the perfect foundations for its superior dynamics and peerless refinement. Its line-up of powerful and efficient powertrains includes two six-cylinder extended range Electric Hybrid plug-ins, which provide a pure-electric driving range of up to 113km (70 miles) and CO2 emissions as low as 18g/km. Probably the coolest dam spillway have ever experienced literally lol. Beautiful sunny day but once under the spillway it's like winter again. Highly recommend ya visit if ya can. ya even can ride a motorcycle under the spillway no issues no joke good ole AZ ! Spoke to a worker who said the spillway locks will be open for the month of March but they will probably cut back on the flow volume in a few days or a week depending on incoming storms and snowmelt. I attempt to hit 100 kmh down a dam overflow spillway on my Canyon Spectral:On mountain bike and it was terrifying, but was it possible? While over in Malaga I decided to push my new Canyon Spectral On to the limits of speed and hit terminal velocity down a huge dam overflow in an attempt to hit 60 mph or 100 kmh to break the land speed record of my brand new electric mountain bike! With my GoPro cameras mounted and Lewi Pilgrim in place with the long lense I send it down this huge concrete mountain and see how fast I can go on a mountain bike, but is 60 miles an hour actually possible? My electric bike from Canyon is an absolute beauty and just being able to pedal up the dam was quite impressive. DWR is maintaining releases from Lake Oroville to the Feather River at 35,000 cfs. These releases are being made in coordination with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and downstream water operators for flood control protection. California officials released water from the main spillway at Oroville Dam Friday in the wake of recent storms and with snowmelt expected to swell lake levels later this year. It's the second release of water at the Oroville Dam’s rebuilt spillway since a flooding crisis in 2017 collapsed the main spillway, eroded an emergency spillway and forced more than 180,000 people to evacuate.
